2016-08-21 Tower of London

We attended mass at the Cathedral quite early. This is the mosaic above the main altar. It shows Jesus and the twelve apostles.

After mass, we had breakfast at the Victoria station and then went to the Tower of London. When people speak of the Tower of London, I had always imagined it being a prison. I thought to myself that it would be a waste of time just to look at a prison.
It turns out I was wrong. The Tower of London is actually a fortress and is the historical residence of the monarch of England.
It has several buildings, one of which was used as a prison. It has a guided tour which is excellent because it gives some history of the place and also explains the what the various buildings were used for.

Perhaps the most intriguing building is the one where the crown jewels are kept. The collections show that Britain is GREAT! The golden vessels and crowns and items are so many that they shine. The diamonds also are huge! It just shows the wealth of England.

We then had lunch at one of the restaurants there. Of course lunch was fish and chips. After this, we went on a tour of the Buckingham Palace. Since picture taking is not allowed, I was not able to take any pictures except the grounds after the tour.
