2016-08-15 to 2016-08-16 Lourdes to Paris to London to Northampton

We checked out at 9pm Aug 15 from the hotel. It was a strange time to check out. We later learned we could have saved one day if we checked out earlier and left our baggage with the hotel until we are ready to take the train at night. Lesson learned.
We took the over night train from Lourdes to Paris. We booked a cabin for four people to sleep in. But going to the room was difficult. There was some confusion as to the coach number of our cabin so we ended up getting on several coaches away and had to walk through several coaches. The aisle was crowded with a lot of pushing and squeezing.

On the way, my son's wallet was picked and we had to deal with the stress of him losing his wallet with his credit card, bank card, driver's license and provincial health ID card. There was also some money in the wallet, but that was the least of our concern.

We prayed to St Anthony and our Lady that we will be able to find the wallet and went to sleep. Sleep for me was also difficult. I need a CPAP machine to sleep and sadly, the cabin did not have a power outlet so I could not use my machine. I woke up several times as I was falling asleep.

As we approach Paris in the morning my son's name was paged. They found his wallet with the cards, minus the money. Thank you Lord and St Anthony!!!

We arrived in Paris and took the train to another station so we can board our train for London. The trip to London was uneventful. It was interesting that the train went through the English Channel. The marvels of technology.

We arrived in London around lunch time and walked to the station to board a train to Northampton. The trip was uneventful. We disembarked at the terminal and walked to my daughter's home. As we came out of the terminal, I saw this plaque. It is interesting that Thomas Becket was tried in Northampton. Sadly, the castle where this happened was demolished.

We passed through the town centre and went home.

A tiring day.
